Adaptation - maximum boost pressure, malfunction

Note: The following fault diagnosis does not apply to cars with LH 2.4.2 and ETS cars. For these cars, see fault diagnosis for the "Low boost pressure".


Conditions

The diagnostic trouble code is detected when the adaptation level exceeds + 25 % of the preprogrammed value to attain the nominal pressure level between 2750 and 3250 rpm.


Diagnostic procedure




1 Check the operation of the throttle switch

- Select command 304 (-M90) or 204 (M91-) with the SAT scan tool.

- The SAT scan tool display should show 8B100, wide open throttle switch open and voltage high (B+).

- Press the accelerator to the floor.

- The ISAT scan tool display should show 8B000, wide open throttle switch closed (connected to ground) and voltage low (0 V).

Are the readings correct?
YES Continue fault diagnosis for "Low boost pressure".
NO Check, adjust and if necessary change the throttle switch. Continue with point 2.




2 Final check

- Clear the diagnostic trouble code.

- Implementation of driving cycle:

Drive the car at varying engine loads and rpm for 5 minutes.

- Evaluation of driving cycle:

Check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs.

Does the diagnostic trouble code recur?
YES Continue with "Before Control Module Replacement". Service and Repair
NO The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct
