Cylinder Block Assembly: Description and Operation
The block is of a totally new design, with the top and bottom faces being parallel. The height, measured from the center line of the crankshaft to the mating flange for the cylinder head. The block is a special one-piece casting with the cylinders bored in the block. Special oil-ways for the lubricating system are also drilled in the block. Incorporated in the sides are the balance shafts, the inner journals of which run in aluminum bearing shells, press-fitted in the block, which can be replaced without the need for any machining.
