Data link connector

On M88 the 4-pin data link connector is located under the left-hand front seat. On M89-M93 the data link connector is of 10-pin type and located under the right-hand front seat. The connector is protected by a plastic cover held in place by a bayonet type fastener.

Communication

Communication between the SAT scan tool and the DI/APC control module is normally carried out:

- with the ignition switch in the ON position

- at idling speed.

Fault diagnosis requiring communication at engine speeds above 2500 rpm is difficult to perform.

At high engine speeds the DI/APC control module prioritizes its basic functions and may turn oft the diagnostics function. The result of this is that the DI/APC will be unable to maintain communication with the ISAT scan tool. The ISAT scan tool will then show "NO CONTACT'.

Important: Command codes 450 to 457, inclusive, activate the relevant function for 1 minute.
