Ignition Discharge Module, Rubber Seal Adjustment
Ignition discharge module, rubber seal adjustmentBinding between spark plugs and ignition discharge module's rubber seal
When the ignition discharge module is removed it sometimes happens that its rubber seal sticks to the spark plug insulators and sustains damage. This applies to cars with an ignition discharge module having a serial number lower than 114 000.
Procedure
This method has a long-term effect and need only be carried out once, say next time the ignition discharge module is removed.
A rectified ignition discharge module should be marked with a dot of red paint on the underside next to the connector.
Use antifriction agent Krytox 205 GPL, part No. 30 19312.
1 Remove the ignition discharge module and change the rubber seal if it is damaged.
2 Unscrew one spark plug at a time and apply a thin coating of antifriction agent round the upper part of the insulator.
3 Move the spark plug in and out repeatedly until the spring in the ignition discharge module ejects the spark plug without help.
4 Repeat the treatment on all rubber seals and their spark plugs.
