Post Collision Repairs

When repairing cars that have been damaged in a collision, replacement of the correct components is vitally important in order to avoid all doubts about the reliability of the car when it has been repaired. The components of concern are listed below.





When repairing a car in which the airbag has deployed, the following components must always be changed:
1. Steering wheel and airbag, steering column assembly and steering column
2. Contact unit
3. Control module
4. Knee shield
5. All seat belts in use when the collision occurred.
6. Passenger airbag (where fitted)
7. Front sensors (2)

The following components must be checked for burning and deformation:
1. System wiring
2. Windshield
3. Bracket for steering column assembly with wires
4. Brackets for the front sensors

To ensure reliable operation of the system after damage to the bodywork, brackets and other damaged parts must be restored to their original condition as new.
