EDU 1 Trip Computer
The trip computer consists of two parts. One part is a pair of buttons (marked "R" and "INFO") located below the clock and the other part is a display located below the speedometer.
The trip computer provides information on:
- Battery voltage.
- Average fuel consumption.
- Current fuel consumption.
Battery test
When the ignition is switched on, the trip computer displays the battery voltage. While the engine is being started, the lowest voltage reading obtained is recorded and this will be displayed until the car pulls away. The computer then reverts to displaying the information previously selected. This arrangement informs the driver about the condition of the battery.
Changing the information displayed
The information shown on the digital part of the display can be changed from battery voltage to average fuel consumption or vice versa by pressing the "INFO" button.
The bar chart in the right-hand part of the display always shows the current fuel consumption.
Changing the units displayed
Fuel consumption can be displayed either in litres per 100 km or in miles per U.S. gallon or in miles per Imperial gallon (MPG). The units displayed can be changed by briefly pressing the "R" button twice. The button must be pressed in quick succession (within half a second).
The units are changed in the following order:
- litres/100 km
- miles/U.S. gallon (MPG). miles/Imperial gallon (MPG)
Reset
To reset the distance and average fuel consumption, press the "R" button. The button must be pressed for at least 2 seconds. This is equivalent to switching on the power supply.
When the button is released and the car has covered about 200 metres (0.12 miles), the information will be reset to zero. This will be indicated by two horizontal dashes appearing instead of the average fuel consumption.
For the correct average fuel consumption to be displayed, this must be done every 3000 kilometres (1865 miles). The trip computer cannot calculate average fuel consumption over a longer continuous distance than about 3000 km (1865 miles).
Switching off the display
If no information is required, the display can be partially or completely extinguished by pressing the "R" and "INFO" buttons simultaneously. The buttons must be pressed for at least 2 seconds.
The information displayed is turned on and off in the following order:
- when the buttons are first depressed, the bar chart will be extinguished
- when the buttons are pressed a second time, the digital part will also be extinguished and the display will turn completely black
- when the buttons are pressed a third time, the bar chart will light up
- when the buttons are pressed a fourth time, the digital part will also light up and the display will again be fully operative.
