Manual Resetting of Fuel Consumption and Range
Not applicable to EDUs having part No.44 37 216 or 44 37 208.
Fault Symptom
If the EDU shows implausibly low fuel consumption (approx. 1.0 I/100 km or 300 MPG), it is because the EDU control module's "total fuel consumption" memory has been full (max. 1,000 I).
The EDU control module then automatically resets the "total fuel consumption" memory but not the "total distance covered" memory (max. 10,000 km)
In consequence, the EDU control module calculates average fuel consumption on the basis of too little fuel and too great a distance covered, which results in implausibly low fuel consumption. If the "total distance covered" memory becomes full before the fuel consumption memory, both memories will automatically be reset and the fuel consumption figures will be normal.
Resetting The Memory
1 Switch on the ignition.
2 Set the EDU control module to show average fuel consumption on the display. Carry out manual resetting (RESET) by pressing the R button on the clock, the DCC unit or the SCC unit for at least four seconds until "- - -" appears in the EDU control module display. When the car has been drive 200 meters, normal fuel consumption figures will be displayed.
Important: Also tell the car owner that the EDU control module must be reset if the figures for average fuel consumption are implausibly low.
