Saab Car Computer (SCC) Trip Computer

Saab Car Computor (SCC) is the designation of the new generation of trip computers that supersedes the earlier Driver Co-Driver Computor (DCC) trip computer on model year 1992 and later cars.

The instrument
The layout of the display and the buttons is different to that of the earlier trip computer. The symbols and text are arranged in a way that is easier to understand.

Below the display showing the selected parameters are two menus where the function chosen is marked with a red circle in the left-hand menu and a red triangle in the right-hand menu.

Press the button with a circle to choose the left-hand menu and the button with a triangle to choose the right-hand menu. The plus and minus signs on these buttons indicate their function when they are used to enter a parameter with the "SET" button, e.g. the time, distance to destination, elapsed time, etc. By pressing the buttons (- or > ) repeatedly, you can select the desired function in the respective menu.

The menu consists of the following functions:
(left-hand side -)
- DIST. TO DEST.
- AVER. SPEED
- SPEED WARN.

(right-hand side >)
- CLOCK
- ARRIVAL
- ALARM

The "SET" button is used for setting (press for 2 seconds) and erasing (press for 4 seconds) parameters. After 2 seconds the figures will start flashing and after 4 seconds they will all turn to 0 and flashing will stop.

As before, the "R" and "INFO" buttons are used for controlling the Electronic Display Unit (EDU) but the "INFO" button also has an Saab Car Computor (SCC) function. With the ignition switched off, the clock function in the SCC is activated by pressing the "INFO" button. The time will be shown as long as the button is pressed.

When the ignition is switched on, "SAAB" will appear briefly in the display.

Functions

DIST TO DEST
Counts down a preset distance. The arrival time (in ARRIVAL) is calculated at the same time on the basis of actual average speed and distance covered. When DIST TO DEST is set, the AVER SPEED and ARRIVAL functions are automatically reset to zero,

AVER SPEED
This function shows average speed calculated from the last time it was reset (current speed is shown for the first 500 metres). Resetting to zero takes place automatically when the DIST TO DEST function is set or it can be reset manually, see under "Directions for use" below.

SPEED WARN
This function activates a buzzer when the preset speed is exceeded.

CLOCK
Shows the time.

ARRIVAL
Shows the arrival time calculated on the basis of actual average speed when the distance to destination has been entered.

ALARM
This function sounds a buzzer when the preset time is reached. This function has priority over the speed warning.

Directions for use
For a detailed description of how to use the SCC, see the Owner's Manual.

Parameters are entered in a logical and consistent manner for all the functions.

Function selection and parameter setting
1 Select the desired function by means of the plus and minus buttons.
2 Press the "SET" button until the figures start flashing (2 seconds).
3 User the plus and minus buttons to enter the desired figures.
4 Press the "SET" button briefly to confirm and end your selection.

Resetting to zero
To reset a function to zero, press the "SET" button for 4 seconds.

Calculations
- Arrival time can be calculated on the basis of a desired average speed.
- The necessary average speed can be calculated on the basis of a desired arrival time.
For the above calculations to be performed, DIST TO DEST must be known and greater than zero.

Important : Regardless of when it is performed, a calculation never alters actual current figures.
