Test Description

Fig. 3 ABS Tester Display:
To diagnose fault codes and perform system service a Saab ABS system tester will be required. The tester Fig. 2 can perform three different sets of tests. These tests include; automatic testing of each wheel sensor and hydraulic pressure (Test Mode), manual valve testing (Valve Test Mode) and manual testing of each wheel sensor and hydraulic pressure (Monitor Mode).
The tester display Fig. 3, is divided into three zones; test prompts; measured values and error codes, with overview of test items; valve and ABS-version monitor. The test prompts display, displays driving instructions for the operator during testing. The measured values and error codes display, shows instantaneous values for wheel speed, wheel sensor signal amplitude, sensor-wheel eccentricity and which wheel the values refer to. A check is also made of the relays, accumulator pressure if pressure sensor is connected and the error codes are displayed at the end of the run. The valve monitoring display, shows which valves are operating during test whenever ABS-system version is selected.
The tester control panel has three buttons to control the function of the ABS tester. Button A is used to start the test cycle and to run through the error codes. Button B is used to select the program that measures wheel sensor signal strength, tests the operation of wheel sensors and measures accumulator pressure (if pressure sensor is connected). Button C is used to select the program that measures sensor wheel eccentricity, test the operation of the wheel sensors and to measure accumulator pressure (if pressure sensor is connected). Buttons B and C can be pressed simultaneously to select ABS-system version.
