Valve Test Mode

During this test you will need to stop the car abruptly several times. Use roads that are lightly traveled or deserted.
1. Ensure tester is in MONITOR MODE, car is not moving and engine at idle speed.
2. Press one of the function buttons to enter VALVE TEST MODE. The ABS warning light on the instrument panel will come on and stay on during the test sequence.
3. Press START TEST button, TEST will now flash on the display, indicating test sequence has begun.
4. Tester will bleep each time a fault is detected.
5. Inlet valves will be tested in this order; IFL-Inlet Front Left, IFR-Inlet Front Right, IR-Inlet Rear. When rear inlet valve is to be tested, choose a place to stop the vehicle where it can remain parked while the remaining valves are tested.
6. To test inlet valves, proceed as follows:
a. System prompt DRIVE >20km/h, drive vehicle between 13-19 mph.
b. System prompt STOP CAR & RELEASE BRAKE, take foot off accelerator and let car coast. Do not touch brake pedal. Use the handbrake or depress clutch pedal several times to slow car down.
c. When the vehicle reaches 11 mph, APPLY BRAKE prompt will appear on the screen. Press down hard on the brake pedal as soon as the prompt appears. Test will now measure the wheel retardation as the car slows down.
d. System prompt RELEASE BRAKE, release brake pedal as soon as the vehicle has stopped. Do not touch brake pedal again.
e. After test sequence for inlet valves has been completed, tester will automatically continue the next test sequence.
7. Outlet valves will be tested in this order; OR-Outlet Rear, OFR-Outlet Front Right, OFL-Outlet Front Left, MV-Main Valve. During the test for the main valve, the brake pedal will pulsate strongly.
8. To test outlet valves and main valve, proceed as follows:
a. Ensure car is parked and engine off.
b. System prompt IGNITION ON, turn key to DRIVE position.
c. System prompt RELEASE BRAKE. Do not touch brake pedal. after approximately five seconds, pump will have raised pressure in accumulator to 2610 psi and RELEASE BRAKE will disappear from screen.
d. System prompt APPLY BRAKE, press down hard on the brake pedal as soon as the prompt appears.
e. System prompt ON STRIKE-> & IGNITION OFF, brake pedal should pulsate or there should be excessive pedal travel when pedal is depressed. If pedal responds as described, turn ignition switch off within 10 seconds to send acknowledgement to the tester. If brake pedal does not respond as described, do not turn off ignition at this time. Wait approximately 20 seconds for system prompt RELEASE BRAKE to appear on the screen.
9. If system does not detect any faults, display will read SYSTEM OK.
10. If any faults have been detected, ERROR will appear on the display followed by a figure indicating the number of faults found.
11. To read error codes, press NEXT ERROR CODE button and error codes will be displayed. Press button again to read each successive error code.

12. If several error codes are displayed together they must be investigated and repaired in the order shown in Fig. 5.

14. To return to MONITOR MODE, press one of the function buttons.
