P1500

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P1500
Battery voltage too high or low

Fault Symptom
.
Possible driveablity problems.

Conditions.
- engine speed > 2000 rpm
- +15 < 8V or > 16V for 30s.

NOTE: The fault diagnosis procedure presupposes that the condition of the battery and its connections has been checked.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1. Checking The Battery Voltage
Connect the Scan Tool.
Start the engine and run it at idling speed.
Select "READ FUNCTIONS".
Select "BATTERY VOLTAGE".
The Scan Tool should show a reading of 12.5 - 14.0 V.

If the reading is OK, continue with point 4.

If the reading is not OK, continue with point 2.

2. Checking The Battery Voltage (contd.)
Take a battery voltage reading across the poles of the battery. A reading of 12.5 - 14.0 V should be obtained.
Compare this reading with the Scan Tool reading. The difference should be less than 0.5 V.

If the difference is less than 0.5 V, continue with point 4.

If the difference is greater than 0.5 V, disconnect grounding point G7P, clean the contact surfaces and refit it. Then repeat point 2. If the difference is still greater than 0.5 V, continue with point 3.

If the battery voltage is not OK, continue fault diagnosis with wiring diagrams.

3. Checking Grounding And Voltage Supply
Connect a BOB.
Start the engine.
Connect a voltmeter to:
- Batt+-pin 1 <0.5V
- Batt+-pin 4a <0.5V
- Batt+-pin 60 <0.5V
- pin 24-Batt- <0.1V
- pin 25-Batt- <0.1V.

If all readings are OK, continue with point 4.

If any reading is not OK, investigate the cause and rectify the fault.

4. Final Check
Clear the diagnostic trouble code, drive the car on test and check whether the trouble code is generated afresh.

If the DTC is generated again, refer to Before Replacing A Control Module.

If the DTC is not generated again: The action taken to rectify the fault was correct, otherwise the fault is of intermittent nature.
