Service Procedure

Action:

Figure 1. Brake Light Function:

Check whether three or five brake lights (including the center high-mounted brake light) come on when the brake pedal is depressed. If all five brake lights come on, no action will be necessary. If only three brake lights come on proceed as follows:

10 Pin Connector:

1. Remove the luggage compartment trim on the left-hand side to expose the 10-pin connector on the filament monitor. See Figure 2.

2. Fit cable terminal P/N 91 20 684, on a length of white 18 ga. cable, approximately 100 mm long.

10 Pin Connector:

3. Unplug the top 10-pin connector (black) from the filament monitor. Connect the cable terminal to pin 4. Connect the other end of the cable to the white cable on pin 10 by means of wire-splice connector, P/N 95 60012.

4. Reconnect the 10-pin connector and check to see that all 5 lights now function when the brakes are applied.
