Using the Scan Tool
USING THE SCAN TOOL1. Data Link Connector
The car has a 10-pin data link connector. It is green in colour and located underthe passenger seat. All electronic systems in the car are connected to this data link connector.
2. Communication
Communication between the Scan Tool and the Trionic control module is normally possible when
- the ignition switch is in the ON position,
- the engine is idling.
Fault diagnosis requiring communication at engine speeds above 2500 rpm is difficult to perform.
At high engine speeds the Trionic system prioritizes its basic functions and the diagnostics function may then be disabled. The result of this is that the Trionic will be unable to maintain communication with the Scan Tool. In such case the Scan Tool will display "NO CONTACT".
3. Menu
The main menu for the TRIONIC has four submenus:
- READ FUNCTIONS
- READ, ON/OFF
- ACTIVATE
- READ SYSTEM INFO
The Scan Tool keys F3 (up) and F4 (down) are used for scrolling up and down in the main menu and submenus. ON/ENTER selects the indicated command.
4. Connection
Connection of the Scan Tool should be carried out with the ignition switch in the OFF position.
