Headlamps
FAULT DIAGNOSIS HINTSThe head lamps are activated when ignition switch 20 is in the Drive position and lights switch 10 in position 2.
1. Check that fuses 7 and 8 (main beam), and 5 and 6 (dipped beam), are intact and supplied with current.
2. Check that the bulbs are intact and supplied with current.
3. Check the grounding of each lamp.
4. Check the lights switch, the lighting relay, the dipswitch connections and filament monitor connections.
5. Check the operation of relay 78 and resistor 80 by taking readings on the connections.
6. Check the connectors, wiring harness and ground connections. For diagnosing faults in the parking lights, see the Parking lights.
IMPORTANT: When changing the bulbs, make sure that the new bulbs are of the correct rating. Otherwise, the lamps in the pictogram may light up due to imbalance in the filament monitor coil.
