Shift Interlock Switch: Service and Repair

NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.





Removal

NOTE: When removing the micro switch, the selector housing must first be removed.

1. Place the selector housing in a vice.
2. Detach the lefthand indicator switch.
3. Unplug the 2 pin connector and remove the cable from the connector.
4. Remove the 4 pin connector from the selector housing and extract pin 2 (blue lead) and pin 3 (black lead).
5. Cut the cable tie.
6. Undo the 2 screws for the micro switch and remove it with its cable.





Installation
1. Insert the microswitch cables through the hole in the selector housing. Install the microswitch with the 2 screws.
2. Install yellow cable in 2 pin connector and plug in connector.
3. Install black cable to pin 3 and blue cable to pin 2 in the 4 pin connector.
4. Place 4 pin connector in selector housing.
5. Install cable tie.
6. Install the indicator switch and the indicator lamp ground lead.
