General Information
There are two main types of grounding point in the car: those with a component number and those where a component is grounded directly to the chassis, such as temperature sensors and oil pressure sensors.Grounding of the battery was changed during model year 1996. On earlier cars the battery is grounded by means of a 25 Sq.mm cable at G2 which is connected to G25 by means of another 25 Sq. mm cable.
On later cars the battery is grounded by means of two cables. One has a cross-section area of 25 Sq.mm and goes straight to grounding point G25 (on the gearbox).
The other has a cross-section area of 16 Sq.mm and goes to grounding point G2, which is located behind the battery on the left-hand wheel housing.
A cable runs from grounding point G2 to distribution terminal 158 (negative), which is located in the main fuse box behind the glove box.
For radio interference suppression, a 16 Sq.mm braided grounding strap is connected between the engine mounting and the car body.
