Rack and Pinion

WARNING:
When the front wheels are off the floor, never forcibly swivel the front wheel so that the steering wheel spins to full lock. This can very easily result in serious damage to the steering system. Operating the rack-and-pinion gear by swiveling a road wheel will cause the steering wheel to spin at high torque, exerting a high torsional stress on the steering column where the rotation is arrested by the stops in the rack-and-pinion.
