Sinter Insert (Venting)

NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.

Removal
1. From outside tap the sintered insert out of the gear case with a suitable drift.

Installation
1. Carefully tap in a new sintered insert from the parting surface side (the sintered insert is conical).

CAUTION:
^ Use a hollow drift or a piece of pipe, so that the surface of the sintered insert is not pressed together (blocked).
^ If the sinter insert is blocked, its venting characteristics are destroyed and the oil in the gearbox could be forced out.
