Electronic Window Lifts

All electric window lifts in the car can be operated by means of a switch on the center console between the front seats. The window lifts in the rear doors can also under certain circumstances be operated by means of a switch in each door.
^ Switch 386 for operating the window lifts in the front doors is supplied with current via fuse 11.
^ Switch 386 for operating the window lifts in the rear doors is supplied with current via fuse 9.
^ If the ON/OFF switch is closed (ON), the window lifts in the rear doors can also be operated by means of switch 190RL on the left-hand rear door and 190RR on the right-hand rear door.
^ If the ON/OFF switch is open (OFF), the switches on the rear doors will be inoperative. The window lifts in the rear doors can then be operated only by means of switch 386 on the centre console.
^ Pressing the "window" symbol on any of the switches lowers the corresponding window. Pressing the part of the switch with no symbol rolls the window up.

Automatic Window Lift Control
The switches on the front doors are different to the other switches in that they have two positions for lowering the window and one position for rolling up the window.

DOWN Position 1: The window descends as long as the switch is held in this position. Positive current is supplied to motor 164 via pin 18 or to motor 165 via pin 6 of the switch.

DOWN Position 2: The window goes all the way down, even if the switch is released after a moment or two. The coil in the relays, integrated into the switch, is supplied with positive current and the relays operate. Due to a time-delay function in the relays, the supply of current is maintained until the window is completely open, even if the switch is released almost at once. This function can be cancelled by moving the switch to the "UP" position.

UP: The window rolls up as long as the switch is held in this position. Positive current is supplied to motor 164D via pin 19 or to motor 164P via pin 7 of the switch.
