Cooling System: Description and Operation
The cooling system is of the over-pressure type, with a cross-flow radiator and an expansion tank. The circuits are different in the different engine variants.
The coolant pump is located at the front edge of the engine block and is driven by a multi-groove belt. The thermostat is located above the coolant pump between the cylinder banks.
In certain markets, the cooling system also includes an electric pump located under the battery tray (picture A). This pump is connected to the hose that goes to the heat exchanger in the cabin. The pump starts when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position.
