Fuse: Testing and Inspection

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT FUSES
The car's +12 V power supply is carried to the various consumer units (items of electrical equipment) via three main fuse boxes, one behind the glove box, one in the engine bay by the left-hand headlamp and one on the engine bay side of the bulkhead partition for the ABS brakes. Most of the fuses and relays are located in the main fuse boxes.

The fuses are of blade type and, together with their connecting sockets, give rise to a lower voltage drop than earlier types. They are also more resistant to corrosion.

Blade fuse colour coding:

Fuse Colour
5A Light brown
7,5A Dark brown
10A Red
15A Blue
20A Yellow
25A Transparent
30A Green
40A Orange
30A Green (Maxi)
40A Orange (Maxi)
60A Blue (Maxi)

Checking Blade Fuse:

Checking Blade Fuses
Each blade fuse has test sockets which can be used to check whether it is intact without having to remove it. If both sockets are live, the fuse is intact.

On a fuse that has been removed it is possible to see whether it has blown.
