Customer Satisfaction Campaign 454: Replacement of Positive Battery Cable
Background
High resistance within the positive battery cable can cause a no-start condition.
A new battery cable with improved terminal connections has been developed and should be installed on all 9000 models within the affected VIN Serial No. flange.

Owner Notification
As much as possible, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Saab Cars USA, Inc. All cars in your inventory must be rectified prior to retail deliveries.
A VIN Status List will be supplied to you prior to any owner notification. Owners known to Saab will be identified on this list. If you do not receive a Status List, this is an indication that no affected vehicles have been sold to/by your dealership.

An initial parts order of cable 49 46 950 and cable 49 42 413 equal to 50% of the vehicles wholesaled to your dealership will be shipped automatically on or about December 8, 1997. If our records indicate that you have not received any affected vehicles, no automatic parts shipment will take place. Order additional parts as needed using DCS ordering procedures.

Stamping the campaign plate
After the car has been modified, mark the campaign plate in box A4 using a numeral "8" (Saab Special Tool P/N 0297713).
