Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Procedure

1. Insert a screwdriver between the hood (bonnet) and the grille and press the control arms to the right (LHD) or left (RHD).

2. Open the hood (bonnet).

3. Remove the front grille.

4. Remove the hood (bonnet) lock.

5. Undo the lock nut on the locking pins and screw in them one turn. Tighten the lock nut.

6. Fit the new hood (bonnet) lock without tightening the bolts.

7. Close the hood (bonnet) carefully so that the locks can center on the locking pins. Tighten the lock retaining bolts.

8. Fit the cable and cable stop. Make sure the spring is against the stop (A) when free and that there is clearance between the cable stop and the spring.

9. Adjust the locking pins so that the correct fit is obtained between the hood (bonnet) and the fenders (wings).

10. Check the function by opening and closing the hood (bonnet) a few times. Drop the hood (bonnet) from about 300 mm (12 in).

11. Pull up the front of the hood (bonnet) by the locks to make sure the lock is working.

12. Reinstall the grille.
