Cleaning, Rapgard

General

The protective Rapgard coating may be removed when the bodywork is at a temperature of 32°-95°F (0 to 35°C), the most suitable temperature being 68°F(20°C). If the bodywork and the ambient temperature are above 95°F (35°C), park the car in the shade or cool using water until the bodywork cools to the correct temperature.

Important
Higher temperatures can cause adhesive residue to adhere to the surface of the paintwork.

Removal

The Rapgard protective coating should be removed at least 48 hours before the car is shown to the customer so than any paint swelling has time to subside.

1 Detach the plastic film at the comers using only your fingers. Do not use tools

2 Grasp the film and keep your hands as close as possible to the surface of the bodywork.

3 Pull parallel with the surface of the bodywork.

4 Wash the car with water and then dry it

5 Check that there is no adhesive residue remaining. Residue can be removed using white spirit (turpentine substitute) or iso propanol (isopropyl alcohol). Use these fluids sparingly and for short periods only.

When the plastic film and adhesive residue have been removed, there may be some swelling in the paintwork. This normally disappears within 48 hours.

New classification of motor oil has been introduced as follows:

Grade of oil:

Saab Turbo motor oil or motor oil which complies with API SG/SH and ACEA A2-96/A3-96, including the previous requirements of CCMC G4/G5.

We advise against the use of additional additives.

Viscosity

SAE 10W/3O or 10W40. In markets where these are not available, 15W4O may be used.

If temperatures are constantly below -20°C (-4° F), use 5W-30 or 5W-40. This must then be partially or wholly synthetic.

If temperatures are constantly 15°C (59°F) or above, use 15W-50 or 20W-50.
