Cellular Phone: Description and Operation
Telephone Connection
The car is prepared for connection of a mobile phone as follows:
- Standard, standard preparation, i.e. in all cars.
- Option, extra option which means that the "handsfree" function" can be used.
Standard
The car is prepared for the connection of a mobile phone through a 10-pin connector for the telephone. The normal audio system sound can be controlled (switched off) and the power supply obtained for the telephone (battery charge) via the connector. No coaxial cable for the mobile phone aerial is preinstalled.
Function
- Current (+30 circuit) is supplied from fuse 8 to pin 1 for powering the mobile phone and charging its battery.
- Current (+15 circuit) is supplied from fuse 27 to pin 2 to switch on the mobile phone.
- Ground connection at grounding point G41P via pin 4.
- Mute control to disconnect the normal sound via pin 5 of the 10-pin connector to pin 6 of the main unit.
Option (Handsfree)
The car is prepared for the connection of a mobile phone through a 10-pin connector for the phone and use of the "handsfree" function.
The audio system's normal sound can be controlled (disconnected) and the power supply for the phone (battery charge) obtained via the connector. Incoming telephone sound is relayed through the audio system speakers and outgoing speech picked up by a built-in microphone in the car.
A coaxial cable for the mobile phone aerial is preinstalled.
Function

- pin 9 for Motorola mobile phones
- pin 10 for Ericsson/Nokia mobile phones
- pin 3 for ground
