Background

All U.S. specification Saab 9-5 models are pre-wired for hands-free mobile telephone operation. This system (Tel 1) includes a microphone and a 10-pin connector, which allows integration with the car's audio system.

The purpose of this SI is to provide a description of the system and its operation, recommended telephones, and Installation Instructions for those phones. It is intended to be given to an installer for use in installing these telephones In Saab 9-5 models.

READ THROUGH COMPLETE SI BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION.

When a compatible mobile telephone system is properly installed, the following features are available:

1 Auto muting of the Saab's sound system for incoming and outgoing calls.

2 Using the audio system's speakers for hands-free calls.

3 Adjustment of the telephone hands-free volume with the radio controls, both on the radio and on the steering wheel.

4 Hand set background lighting is controlled by the vehicle's lighting controls. (System feature: not necessarily available with all telephones. Not used in Nokia telephones listed here.)

5 Both constant and switched power through the car's system. This allows using the car's power vs. the phone's battery power. Also charges the phone's battery even when the ignition is turned off.

- Nokia 2100 series: Models 2160, 2170, 2180, 2190
