Background
There have been occurrences of water leaks on the front left-hand side of the cabin in certain cars. The leak is caused by a hole at the reinforcing plate in the wheel housing made while welding. Take the following measures after customer complaint.

Procedure
1. Raise the car and remove the front left wheel.
2. Remove the screw securing the fender (wing) liner to the scuff plate and the top and rear plastic nuts.
3. Press in the rear section of the fender (wing) liner so that is comes away from the edge of the fender (wing). Fold the fender (wing) liner forward to reveal the reinforcing plate welds.
4. Inspect the centre weld on the bottom of the reinforcing plate.
5. Seal the hole with Terostat 1 K-PUR T 216, part no. (16) 30 07 085.
6. Fit the fender (wing) liner by pressing it to the edge of the fender (wing) and screwing on the nuts and the screw.
7. Refit the front wheel.
8. Remove the scuff plate, lift up the carpet and dry inside the car.
9. Hose down the car with normal mains water pressure over the windscreen and roof for about one minute.
10. Make sure no water leaks have occurred.
11. Dry the inside of the car with a fan/dehumidifier before refitting dismantled parts.
