SID - Fuel Consumption Inaccuracy

SI No. 248-2227 ed. 2
PI No.

Date: May 2000
Distr. US CA

9-5

Incorrect fuel consumption shown on SID

Cars affected

Saab 9-5, M00 with VIN Y3000121 - Y3040908

Background

The value for average fuel consumption may increase after turning the ignition off and on. The Trionic control module sends the current fuel consumption via the I-bus to the main instrument unit. When the ignition is turned off, the control module continues to send the value until it takes its rest state (20 minutes).

Under certain circumstances, an "old" value may be activated on the bus when the ignition is turned on and this can decrease the value by 1-2 MPG.
Take the following measures after a customer complaint.

Procedure

1. Connect Tech 2.

2. Select Diagnosis - 2000 - 9-5 - Body - Main Instrument Unit - Adjustment - Fuel Consumption Factor.

3. Set the fuel consumption factor to 0.

4. Remove Tech 2.
