Expansion Valve
To remove
1. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system.
2. Detach the A/C pipes from the expansion valve, 1 bolt in center of valve.
Plug the openings and move the pipes to one side.
3. Remove the expansion valve, 2 countersunk hexagonal socket screws.
To fit
IMPORTANT Be careful not to contaminate the new expansion valve.
1. Lubricate the O-rings with synthetic vaseline. Fit the O-rings on the pipes leading from the evaporator.
2. Press the expansion valve onto the A/C pipes and tighten.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.7 ft. lbs.)
3. Remove the plugs and lubricate the O-rings on the pipes from the compressor and condenser respectively.
4. Press on the A/C pipes to the expansion valve.
5. Locate the pipe holder (washer) against the valve and tighten
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (5.9 ft. lbs.)
6 Vacuum pump the A/C system and fill with R134a refrigerant.
