Safety And Handling Directions, Xenon Headlamps

General safety directions


WARNING
The following points must be followed when working on xenon headlamps:


- Headlamp servicing should only be carried out by an authorised Saab garage.
- All service work must be carried out with caution in accordance with given instructions. Risk for personal injury in case of faulty handling.
- The ignition must always be in LOCK position when changing components.
- Internal headlamp wires must not be repaired. Change them completely instead. Always cut the power to the headlamp by unplugging it before starting work.
- In no circumstances may the headlamp be powered without the protective cover fitted.
- The xenon lamp must not be turned on without being correctly fitted in the headlamp and with the protective cover fitted.
- Use protective goggles and gloves whenever handling a xenon lamp as the pressure inside the lamp is very high.
- A xenon lamp contains mercury and must therefore be left for disposal.
