Power and Ground Distribution: Service Precautions
Safety Regulations
WARNING
Risk for burns!
Despite the fact that the system voltage is only 12 volts it is possible to contract burns or cause fires in the car due to the energy content of the battery. A short circuit can cause great current strength!
Warning high voltage!
The electronic ignition system generates high tension exceeding 48,000 volts. The ignition voltage of xenon lamps is approx. 23,000 volts. These voltages can be lethal for persons with heart problems or have pacemakers implanted. Treat these systems with great respect.
Before commencing work on the electrical system:
- remove your watch and rings;
- before disconnecting the battery, make sure that the customer has the code for the radio;
- disconnect the negative terminal of the battery when removing electrical components
- always follow the instructions and regulations in the relevant service manuals.
WARNING
Cables for the ABS, TC-ABS, ESP and Airbag systems must be replaced with new ones and not repaired.
