Wiring Harness, Boot Lid
Wiring Harness, Boot Lid 4D
Replacement
NOTE: If the car is equipped with a radio other than a genuine Saab radio, check that the customer has the radio code before commencing work. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
1. Remove the boot lid trim.
2. Mark carefully all the connectors before disconnecting them from their components.
3. Unplug the connector behind the LH wheel housing.
4. Mark the cables in the connector accurately.
Extract the pins from the connector towards the rear harness in the boot lid harness. Otherwise, it will not be possible to extract it through the hole in the roof.
5. Loosen the cable grommet in the roof by lowering the headlining slightly on the left-hand side and releasing the catches on the rubber grommet from the inside.
IMPORTANT
Be careful that the headlining does not get damaged or dirty.
6. Unplug the connectors to all components.
7. Pull out the wiring harness from the cabin.
8. Mark the cables and connectors in the new harness accurately.
Extract the pins from the connector towards the rear harness in the boot lid harness. Otherwise, it will not be possible to extract it through the hole in the roof.
9. Lay out the new wiring harness the same as the old one and secure it in the same way. Make sure all grommets are sealing tight.
10. Plug in the connectors to their respective components. If in doubt refer to wiring diagrams/component lists for the respective system.
11. Extract the pins from the connectors. Check them against the marking on the old harness.
12. Refit the headlining, C-pillar trim and luggage compartment trim.
13. Connect the negative battery cable. Set the clock and program the radio code where applicable.
IMPORTANT
Fasten the wiring harness correctly so that there is no risk of it scraping or rattling.
Check all rubber grommets to minimize the risk of leakage.
NOTE: Spray all the connectors with "Kontakt 61" to prevent copper rust from forming. Clean all the grounding points and apply them with Vaseline.
