Wiring Harness, Dashboard

Wiring Harness, Dashboard

Replacement

WARNING
If the passenger airbag has been disconnected, check that the customer has a valid contract for the disconnected airbag and that a warning label with the text "Passenger airbag disconnected" is clearly visible on the dashboard.

NOTE: If the car is equipped with a radio other than a genuine Saab radio, check that the customer has the radio code before commencing work. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

1. Mark all the connectors carefully before unplugging them from their respective components.
2. Undo:
- Main fuse board at end of dashboard
- expansion tank and tilt it forward
- cover on front RH A-pillar and headlining
- gear lever carrier
- centre panel and floor console
3. Remove:
- RH front seat
- instrument plate and switch connectors
- glove box
- cover on RH C-pillar
4. Disconnect the cables on the grounding points.
5. Unplug the connectors to the other wiring harnesses.
6. Carefully remove the wiring harness without damaging cable ties, etc., that are to be refitted.
7. Lay out the new wiring harness and main fuse and relay boards the same as the old ones and secure them in the same way. Make sure all grommets are sealing tight.
8. Plug in the connectors to their respective components. If in doubt refer to wiring diagrams/component lists for the respective system.

IMPORTANT
On cars with a manual gearbox and for all markets with the exception of US/CA the connector for the clutch starter inhibitor switch must be bridged. Otherwise the car will not start.

9. Plug in the connectors.
10. To minimize the number of spare-part wiring harnesses, there are a number of extra connectors by the connector bracket below the left-hand A-pillar. The following connections may be necessary:
- Cars with ACC: Plug in the black 10-pin connector to the corresponding orange connector.
- Cars with MCC: Plug in the black 10-pin connector to the corresponding green connector.
- Car without rain sensor: Plug together the two 4-pin connectors.
11. Connect the ground cables.
12. Refit the instrument plate and connect the switches.
13. Connect the negative battery cable. Set the clock and program the radio code where applicable.

IMPORTANT
Fasten the wiring harness correctly so that there is no risk of it scraping or rattling.
Check all rubber grommets to minimize the risk of leakage.

NOTE: Spray all the connectors with "Kontakt 61" to prevent copper rust from forming. Clean all the grounding points and apply them with Vaseline.
