Fault symptom
Check Engine

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
Continuous

Enable criteria:
Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
Engine running.
No fuel shut-off.
Secondary air pump not active, if fitted.
EVAP, leak diagnosis not active, if OBDII.
Preheating active for more than 4 s.
Lambda control active for more than 5 s.
NONE of the following DTCs must be detected: P0101, P0102, P0103

Fault criteria:
When voltage across oxygen sensor 1 is less than 100 mV while voltage across oxygen sensor 2 is more than 700 mV for more than 30 s.

Dependent:
None

System reaction to a fault:
Closed loop is blocked.
Preheating of oxygen sensors 1 and 2 is stopped.
Fuel adaptation is reset and switched off.

OK report:
Fault criteria NOT fulfilled for 31 s.

Fault handling:
Type III
(See Description of On-Board Diagnostics/Fault handling III, "Other emission-related components and functions" for more information.)

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

NOTE: The oxygen sensor receives reference oxygen from the surroundings via connection cables. For this reason, contact spray or grease may not be used in the oxygen sensor connectors.
