Parking Brake System: Service and Repair
Park Brake Support Replacement
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution (Brake Dust Caution).
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the park brake cable from the rear brake caliper. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
4. Remove the brake caliper and bracket assembly. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
5. Remove the rear brake rotor.
6. Remove the park brake shoe.
7. Remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the retaining nuts from the support.
9. Remove the support from the rear axle housing.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the support to the axle housing flange.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).
2. Install the support nuts.
Tighten the support nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the park brake shoe.
5. Install the rear brake rotor.
6. Install the brake caliper and bracket assembly. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
7. Install the park brake cable to the rear brake caliper. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
8. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Adjustments).
9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
