Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement (5.3L) (Generator Bracket Replacement (5.3L)).
2. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side).
4. Remove the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. If equipped, remove the auxiliary air conditioning (A/C) bracket bolt (5).
6. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Left Side (Cylinder Head Removal - Left Side).
7. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection (Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side (Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. If equipped, install the auxiliary A/C bracket bolt (5).

Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side).
5. Install the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement (5.3L) (Generator Bracket Replacement (5.3L)).
