Information on Fitting Retailer Installed Nose Mask to New Production Hoods

MODELS AFFECTED:
1992 Coupes with new production hoods

PURPOSE:
The rear hood bumper (anti-flutter button) has been relocated three inches rearward of each side of the 1992 Coupe hood. This change results in the nose mask tie downs of current retailer installed nose masks (P/N 21070230) not reaching the planned anchor locations. Use the following procedures to install the nose mask to the new production hood.

NOTE:
A new nose mask (P/N 21070245) will be available in the future with different length tie downs, which allow it to be attached to the new production hood, without having to drill a tie down hole.





1. Open hood and prop open with hood rod.

2. Measure a point 229 mm (9 in.) back from the leading edge of the hood on the inner hood structure, along the vertical surface, inboard of the rear hood bumper (anti-flutter button).

3. Center punch the anchor location in the middle of the vertical surface.

4. Drill a 1/4 inch hole and remove any burrs.

NOTICE:
The hole should be drilled through the inner hood structure only. Be careful not to drill through, or damage the outer hood assembly.

5. Prime the hole with 3M Windo-Weld Primer P/N 08643 or equivalent and allow to flash dry for 20 minutes.

6. Install nose mask as directed in instructions included with the retailer installed nose mask.
