SUBJECT:
Rear Compartment Key Not Returning to Full-Vertical Position When Opening Rear Compartment with Key (Replace Lid Lock, Cover)

MODELS
AFFECTED:
All 1991 and 1992 SC Coupes, and 1993 SC1 and SC2 Coupes up to, and including VIN PZ143666.

CONDITION:
Some of Saturn Coupes may have a concern about the rear compartment key cylinder not returning to full-vertical position when opening the rear compartment with the key.

CAUSE:
Lid lock cylinder rod may contact the rear compartment lid lock cover.

CORRECTIVE
ACTION:
Replace the rear compartment lid lock cover, with a new rear compartment lid lock cover, according to the following procedure.



PROCEDURES

1. Open rear compartment lid.





2. Using a screwdriver, pry the rear compartment lid lock cover from the rear compartment lid lock assembly.

3. Install new rear compartment lid lock cover (P/N 21097060) by pushing it into position.

4. Verify that the key now returns to the full-vertical position without contacting the rear compartment lid lock cover.
