INFORMATION FLAG PARAMETERS

Info. Flag 83 is set when the PCM has detected the following conditions for more than 21 minutes.

- No ground/open in the temperature circuit.

- No short in the temperature circuit.


- Stable temperature signal, no Info. flag 82.

- Temperature value (TV) is less than a calculated temperature based on engine temperature (ET) and manifold air temperature (MAT).


TV < [(ET + MAT)] / 2 - 53°C.

1. This step verifies the problem is still present.

2. This step verifies proper PCM operation.

3. This step indicates faulty temp. sensor or faulty wires/connections.



DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem use the Scan tool* to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.

* Select MALF History from Scan tool TCM menu.


Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.

Since this info flag does not set with a ground/open or short the problem is probably added resistance in the wiring.
