Shoulder Belt and Lap Belt Indicator/Reminder System

INDICATOR LAMP
The passive restraint system has an audible and visual indicator and reminder system.

A shoulder belt indicator lamp (RED, with ISO symbol) is activated when any of the following conditions are detected:
- If either shoulder belt is not at the B-pillar.
- If the driver's shoulder belt is unbuckled.
- If the PRCM detects that either pillar switch has failed in a manner indicating that the shoulder belt is always at the location of a failed switch.

If the indicator lamp is on due to an unbuckled shoulder belt, buckling the shoulder belt terminates the RED indicator lamp.

A lap belt indicator lamp (RED, LAP BELT) is activated as follows:
- The indicator lamp is lit continuously for 2 seconds as a bulb check when the ignition is switched from OFF to ON.
- If the driver's lap belt is not buckled, the indicator lamp will start to flash four to six seconds after the driver's shoulder belt starts moving towards the B-pillar or six seconds after the ignition is switched from OFF to ON with the driver's shoulder belt at the B-pillar. After flashing for 10 seconds, the lamp stays on solid.
- If a once buckled lap belt is unbuckled, the lamp will flash for 10 seconds then stay on solid.

AUDIBLE REMINDER
An audible reminder (five chimes over eight seconds) occurs as follows:
- If four seconds or more have elapsed since the driver's shoulder belt started moving toward the B-pillar, or since the ignition has been switched from OFF to ON, and the driver's shoulder belt is unbuckled.

If the audible warning is due to an unbuckled shoulder belt and/or lap belt, buckling the shoulder belt and/or lap belt terminates the audible alarm.

Lap belt and shoulder belt reminders (indicator lamps and audible chime) terminate if the driver's side belt destination is the A-pillar.
