Tachometer: Testing and Inspection

TACHOMETER
Run the vehicle at several different RPMs to verify that the tachometer is functioning properly.

Use the PDT to compare the RPM on the tachometer to the RPM on the PDT with the engine running. If the PDT does not display an RPM refer to DTC 1693 in this manual for further diagnosis. If the PDT displays an RPM but the tachometer does not, refer to "Instrument Cluster Internal Resistance Checks" to further diagnosis the tachometer.
