Important:
This bulletin applies to vehicles sold and registered in the U.S. ONLY. Vehicles sold and registered in Canada should refer to Recall Bulletin 05104.

Condition

Some customers may comment that the parking lamps, tail lamps, license plate lamps, and side marker lamps do not illuminate automatically when the fog lamps are turned on.

Cause

The number 9 circuit on the Automatic Level Control (ALC)/park relay (pin J2-5 to pin J4-5) is missing. Without this circuit, the parking lamps, tail lamps, licenses plate lamps, and side marker lamps are not activated when the fog lamps are turned on. The parking lamps and tail lamps, however, can be turned on manually when the fog lamps are on.

Correction

Install a jumper wire terminal kit, P/N 15885555, following the procedure below:

1. Remove the right console side extension retainer by rotating it counterclockwise.

2. Remove the right console side extension by pulling the console side extension rearward to disengage it from the console.

3. Disconnect the J2 (38/37-way gray) and the J4 (56-way gray) connectors from the body control module (BCM).

4. Remove the tape from the wire dress area of the connector.

5. Release the terminal position assurance (TPA) lock.

6. Insert the jumper wire terminal into the J2 terminal block cavity number 5.

7. Insert the other jumper wire terminal into the J4 terminal block cavity number 5.

8. Slide the TPA lock back into position.

9. Re-tape the wires onto the wire dress on both connectors using electrical tape.

10. Wrap the jumper to the wiring harness with electrical tape in a spiral pattern.

11. Connect the J2 (38/37-way gray) and J4 (56-way gray) connectors to the body control module (BCM).

12. Install the console side extensions.

13. Align the clips on the console side extensions with the slots in the console.

14. Slide the console side extensions forward to engage the clips with the console.

15. Install the console side extension retainers and turn the retainers clockwise to secure.

16. Test the fog lamps. Ensure that the parking lamps, tail lamps, license plate lamps, and side marker lamps activate when the fog lamps are on.
