Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Battery to Underhood Junction Block)
BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT (BATTERY TO UNDERHOOD JUNCTION BLOCK)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT:
- Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
- Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the carpet.
3. Loosen the positive battery cable (1) bolt.
4. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery.
5. From inside the vehicle, remove the positive battery cable clip (2) from the stud.
6. Remove the positive battery cable from the body clip (1). Unfold the tabs in order to remove the cable.
7. Remove the positive battery cable clips (3) from the studs.
8. Remove the positive battery cable clip (2) from the stud.
9. Remove the positive battery cable from the body clip (3). Unfold the tabs in order to remove the cable.
10. Remove the positive battery cable clip (4) from the floor pan.
11. Remove the positive battery cable clips (1) from the studs.
12. Remove the positive battery cable from the body wiring harness clips (1).
13. Remove the positive battery cable from the body clips (2). Unfold the tabs in order to remove the cable.
14. Remove the positive battery cable from the body wiring harness clips (1).
15. Unseat the grommet from the front of dash.
16. From under the hood, remove the positive battery cable from the body wiring harness clip (1).
17. Remove the junction block cover.
18. Remove the junction block nut (1).
19. Remove the positive battery cable (to starter) terminal (2) from the stud.
20. Remove the positive battery cable (to battery) terminal (4) from the stud.
21. Remove the positive battery cable from under the junction block.
22. Route the positive battery cable through the hole in the front of dash.
23. From inside the vehicle, remove the positive battery cable.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. From inside the vehicle, layout the positive battery cable assembly and route the battery cable under the park brake cable.
2. Route the positive battery cable through the hole in the front of dash.
3. From under the hood, route the positive battery cable under the junction block.
4. Install the positive battery cable (to battery) terminal (4) to the stud.
5. Install the positive battery cable (to starter) terminal (2) to the stud.
6. Install the junction block nut (1).
Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.
7. Install the junction block cover.
8. Install the positive battery cable to the body wiring harness clip (1).
9. From inside the vehicle, seat the grommet to the front of dash. Ensure that the arrow on the grommet faces upward.
10. Install the positive battery cable to the body wiring harness clips (1).
11. Install the positive battery cable to the body clips (2). Fold over the tabs to secure the cable.
12. Install the positive battery cable to the body wiring harness clips (1).
13. Install the positive battery cable clips (1) to the studs.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the positive battery cable is routed under the park brake cable as shown.
14. Install the positive battery cable clip (4) to the floor pan.
15. Install the positive battery cable to the body clip (3). Fold over the tabs to secure the cable.
16. Install the positive battery cable clip (2) to the stud.
17. Install the positive battery cable clips (3) to the studs.
18. Install the positive battery cable to the body clip (1). Fold over the tabs to secure the cable.
19. Install the positive battery cable clip (2) to the stud.
20. Position the positive battery cable to the battery.
21. Tighten the positive battery cable (1) bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
22. Install the carpet.
23. Connect the negative battery cable.
