Applicability

Introduction

Some customers may experience a condition where the left hand upper cowl reinforcement Cover may become warped and contact the rear edge of the hood. To correct this condition an improved part has been introduced into production. Use the following repair procedure for vehicles with this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Required Tools & Equipment

Repair Procedure





1. Using the plastic pry tool remove front and rear claws of the left-hand side No. 2 upper cowl reinforcement cover.

2. Remove the center claw.

3. Remove the old part from the vehicle and discard it.

4. Remove any remaining double-sided tape residue from the body using a clean paper towel saturated in 3M(TM) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (P/N 08984 [liquid] or 08987 [aerosol]) or equivalent.





5. Install the NEW part by engaging all three claws.

NOTE
When installing, be sure to push toward the rear of the vehicle to ensure NO contact with the hood.
