Introduction
Some customers may experience a condition where the lower dash panel does not fit well against the upper portion of the dash. Follow the repair procedures listed in this bulletin to improve this condition.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2008 model year Scion xB vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2008 model year Scion xB Repair Manual, Vehicle Interior - Interior Panels/Trim - "Instrument Panel: Lower Instrument Panel: Removal".
1. Remove the Lower Instrument Finish Panel on the driver's side.
A. Disengage the 2 clips and 7 claws devices attaching the lower instrument panel to the main dash assembly.
B. Remove/move any connectors that may interfere with the removal of the lower Instrument Finish Panel.
2. Loosen the left hand dash assembly attaching bolt located directly below the instrument panel reinforcement (shown by the red arrow on the right).
3. Push up on the lower portion of the dash assembly in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration. While holding the dash upward re-torque the dash assembly attaching bolt to
Torque: 6 N.m (60kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf)
4. Reattach any connectors or move them back into the correct position.
5. Engage the 2 clips and 7 claws and snap the lower instrument finish panel into position.
6. Inspect the fit of the lower finish panel to the lower instrument panel.
