Introduction

Some customers may complain that the left rear seat back requires more force to latch than the right rear seat back. A new left hand latch assembly has been developed to equalize the latching force of both seats.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the rear seat assembly LH.

For additional information, refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2008 model year Scion xB Repair Manual, Vehicle Interior - Seat - "Seat: Rear Seat Assembly (for LH side): Removal".

2. Disassemble and replace rear seat back latch assembly.

3. Reassemble seat components.

4. Reinstall rear seat assembly LH.
