Removal

2AZ-FE COOLING: RADIATOR: REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

2. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER Removal

3. REMOVE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

4. REMOVE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

6. REMOVE BATTERY

(a) Separate the negative and the positive battery terminals.





(b) Remove the bolt and loosen the nut, and remove the battery carrier.





(c) Remove the battery insulator and the battery.

(d) Remove the battery tray.





7. REMOVE NO. 2 BATTERY CARRIER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and the No. 2 battery carrier.





8. SEPARATE NO. 1 WATER HOSE CLAMP BRACKET

(a) Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the radiator.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 1 water hose clamp bracket.

9. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Separate the hood lock control cable from the hood lock, as shown in the illustration.





(b) Disengage the clamp and separate the hood lock control cable.

10. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 2 horn connectors.





(b) Remove the 4 bolts and the hood lock support.

11. DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE

(a) Disengage the hose clamp from the inlet radiator hose.





(b) Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the inlet radiator hose from the radiator.

12. DISCONNECT OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE

(a) Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the outlet radiator hose from the radiator.





13. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION

(a) Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the No. 2 fan shroud.





14. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD

(a) Disconnect the 2 fan motor connectors.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts, disengage the 2 claws, and remove the No. 2 fan shroud from the radiator.





15. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

16. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE CONDENSER Removal

18. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the radiator.





19. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)

(a) Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator.





(b) Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

20. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

(a) Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

21. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT

(a) Remove the 2 lower radiator supports.

22. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and fan shroud from the radiator.
