P0708
TX6A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM: P0707, P0708; Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Low; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]
P0707 - Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Low
P0708 - Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit High
DESCRIPTION
A signal from the park/neutral position switch assembly input into the TCM detects the shift position. The engine can only be started when the shift lever is in P or N.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
These DTCs indicate a problem with the park/neutral position switch assembly and the wire harness in the park/neutral position switch assembly circuit.
The park/neutral position switch assembly detects the shift lever position and sends a signal to the TCM.
For security, the park/neutral position switch assembly detects the shift lever position so that engine can be started only when the shift lever is in the P or N position.
The park/neutral position switch assembly sends a signal to the TCM according to the shift position (P, R, N, D, or M). The TCM determines that there is a problem with the switch or related parts if it receives more than 1 position signal simultaneously. The TCM will turn on the MIL and store the DTC.
When an open or short circuit occurs, the contact points for all shift positions are set to OFF.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
1. DATA LIST
HINT
Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
NOTICE:
In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
(a) Warm up the engine.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(e) Turn the Techstream on.
(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Data List.
(g) According to the display on the Techstream, read the "Data List".
NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the A19 TCM connector.
(b) Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard resistance:
(c) Connect the A19 TCM connector.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - TCM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the L2 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch on.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
(d) Connect the L2 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. REPLACE TCM
(a) Replace the TCM Removal.
NEXT -- PERFORM THE RESET MEMORY Programming and Relearning
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - TCM)
(a) Disconnect the A19 TCM connector.
(b) Disconnect the L2 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
(e) Connect the TCM connector.
(f) Connect the L2 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
