SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Front Side): REMOVAL; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
The power window system utilizes a mechanism that the door glass moves down slightly when the door is opened, and that the glass moves up when closing the door in order to prevent the door molding from being damaged. When the battery negative (-) terminal needs to be disconnected for servicing, fully open the driver and passenger door glasses in advance.

5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER Front Door Disassembly

6. REMOVE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

(c) Remove the nut and separate the door side airbag sensor from the front door panel.









NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the door side airbag sensor because the door side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

(d) Slide the outer housing to release the lock, and then disconnect the connector to remove the door side airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
