Antenna Base Cap - Replacement Procedure

APPLICABILITY ALL 1985 4-DOOR SEDAN AND STATION WAGON VEHICLES 09-13-85


SUBJECT: ANTENNA BASE CAP REPLACEMENT


Should the chrome plated antenna base cap need replacement, parts are available under Part Number SPS21GA190.

To replace an antenna base cap, follow the procedure below:

1) Using a small punch and a small hammer, tap the top part of the antenna base cap until it moves in a downward direction, parallel to the "A" pillar, approximately 1/4". (see Figure 1).

2) Place a straight blade screwdriver underneath the antenna base cap and pry up to remove. (See Figure 2). Use care not to scratch the vehicles finish.

3) Place the new antenna base cap onto the antenna base and slide it in an upward direction parallel to the "a" pillar until it snaps into place. (See Figure 3).
4) Make sure the rubber antenna base is not stuck underneath the antenna base cap which it borders. (See Figure 3).

This operation has a time allowance of 0.2 hrs. and can be claimed under Operation Number A916-494 (Failure Code XGR-02,56).
